Progress Update – May 2025
Kia ora koutou,
It’s been a long road, and we know many of you are keeping a close eye on progress at the Marine Centre. Here's where things stand this month:
There’s now clear and visible progress on site. The framing for both floors is largely complete, and the overall shape of the building is now easy to see from Boundary Road. The scale of the future boat storage area is especially striking — this will be a real asset once finished.
Here’s a quick snapshot:
✅ Most structural framing is now in place, with steady momentum across the build.
🏗️ Construction remains on track for early 2026 completion, though some supply delays (like key roof components) are still being worked through.
🔧 The team is finalising plans for internal features like the commercial kitchen and foyer.
🧯 Pathways, storage areas, and fire safety provisions are now being mapped out for the final stages of the build.
👀 We’re also planning a site visit later this month for key community reps and supporters — we’ll share more details soon.
We know it’s been a long wait. Progress isn’t always flashy, but it’s happening — and the Marine Centre is getting closer to becoming the community space so many have worked to bring to life.

Ngā mihi,
